As with all Sunpac products I have purchased and used the quality of the item is very good. It just dosnt put out much more light than the built in flash.

Excellent amateur compact flash, easily folds to smaller than the proverbial "pack of cigarettes" and fits in a pocket. Easy to attach and use, it provides more power than built in flash and does not drain the camera batteries as it uses its own batteries. This is NOT a professional flash, but a nice supplement to the built in flash which allows you to bounce the light of the ceiling for less harsh pictures and more picture taking options. I use it on a Cannon Rebel XS with lenses from wide to telephoto. The built in wide angle diffuser is also a nice feature as it doesnot get lost when needed. I stronly reccomended flash for amateurs and casual picture takers looking for an inexpensive addition to their equipment.

This review is for dslr users. I bought this instead of a Canon 270ex to use with my 5d2 when travelling. It works well for that purpose and is slightly better than a popup flash in that it can at least be angled up. (It can't swivel though). It's not terribly strong and can only be controlled by the camera to a limited extent. For all that, it works well and is quite handy.
With the new features on the 270exII, I'd recommend that flash over this one even though it is more than twice the price (although still inexpensive for a flash). If all you need is something to make up for the non-existent popup flash on the higher end canon cameras, this does the job.
